Acadia Point Maine is a painting I have wanted to do since 1975. I spent a vacation driving alone, looking for photographs and camping on the northeast coast.
Acadia National Park offered scenery and privacy. I camped down a winding foot path where no cars were allowed.
I melted butter on my little camp stove and enjoyed lobster from near by Bar Harbor. In the evening, I listened to lectures by the Park Rangers. And most of all, I walked the coast of the park. Looking out at the Cranberry Isles.
This lighthouse represents the good that comes with being part of a civilization. It welcomes you home. It warns you of dangerous shores. It stands the test of time. It ask nothing of you beyond respect for doing its job. It is a beacon of life against death.
