Icebergs At Night was inspired by our cruise up the inside passage of Alaska to Glacier Bay. Gliding along at night, mostly submerged, the bergs of the north give shape and texture to a sometimes calm and placid sea. The rise and fall of the bergs makes the water dance in circular waves of mild motion fading into the dark.
Modeled in 3D, it shows the subtle textures and transparencies that are availabe to the digital artist. The choices of colors and the direction of the light consumed many days of experimentation. The ray traced 3D image took 7 days to render.
